The evergreen Jade tropical tea plant is from the Camellia family and was originally indigenous to China and India. Tea can grow up to altitudes of 2,100 metres above sea level and prefers a warm humid climate with good average yearly rainfall.
The tea bushes are grown from cuttings which are carefully nurtured in green houses until ready for planting. They are strategically planted in rows and pruned at a hight of approximately 1metre for ease of plucking and take between 3 to 5 years to reach maturity depending on the altitude and conditions.
The tea bushes are plucked by hand every 7 to 14 days depending on the regrowth period.
